Dautel, Walter, formerly living at 519 Lincoln Avenue in Pompton Lakes, NJ, died on Wednesday, May 11 after a sudden illness. Born in 1923, Walter emigrated to the US and lived his adult life in Pompton Lakes and Sparta, NJ, until 2001. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Betty Jane (Patterson) Dautel, his wife, and Walter were well known in the community and were members of many community organizations and of the Pompton Lakes Reformed Church. Walter is survived by his children, Stephen, James, Peter, Barbara, and Jeffrey, their families, 17 grandchildren, and many extended family members. Walter is remembered fondly for his devotion to his family, his community involvement and for his loyalty to his friends. A service will be held at the Pompton Lakes Reformed Church, Hamburg Turnpike, Pompton Lakes, NJ, on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 3 PM. Family and friends are welcome.
