Laverty, Conor "Nor" William, 41, of Wayne, NJ passed away unexpectedly at Morristown Memorial Hospital from complications after a stroke on Sunday, December 11, 2011. Conor was born to immigrants from Ireland, Charles A. and Mary T. (nee O'Connor) Laverty in Staten Island, NY on March 22, 1970, and raised in Wayne, NJ with his older brother, Brian, and two younger sisters, Maeve and Maureen. In addition to his siblings, he leaves behind Maeve's husband Jason and their children, Stella and Jaxson Hajek, his many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins in the U.S., Ireland, and England, and a large host of friends throughout New Jersey. Conor worked as a computer network administrator and engineer. Conor graduated with the Wayne Valley Class of 1988. As a child, he was a member of the Boy Scouts and Indian Guides, and played soccer and baseball for the P.A.L., where he also spent much time at summer day camp and field trips. He had many varied hobbies and became accomplished at a large number of them. These include painting on canvas, paper, denim jackets, and tagged urban art. He also loved electronics, computer hacking, automotive and motorcycle building and repair, and basically anything technical, tactile, or mechanical that posed a challenge. He was a volunteer for WFMU, an avid music collector and enthusiast, and enjoyed his vast vinyl record collection. Additionally, Conor takes motion picture credit for his work as Assistant Art Director and extra in the films Bacterium and Shock-O-Rama. His most recent home was in Wantage, where he shared a large property with friend of 25 years, Rick Schlueter, where they could be found working on any of a number of interesting projects in their expansive shop. He had a real passion for all his interests, but especially for cars and motorcycles. Conor was usually a quiet and reserved man, but he was known by many and trusted by most. He was always there to lend a hand to friends who needed help with computer, car, electrical problems, or any technical problem that might arise. He once owned a mobile audio business called On-Site Auto Sound, and later worked as IT engineer for his father’s publication Automotive Week. Family and friends are invited to come celebrate Conor’s life and view some of his artwork on display from 4-8pm on Tuesday at Richards Funeral Home at 1440 Union Valley Road, West Milford, NJ. Funeral service at 7:30 PM. Anyone who owns any of Conor’s artwork is welcome to bring their piece for display. After the service, family and close friends are invited for drinks and snacks at Latitude 41 Restaurant in Hewitt, which Conor was instrumental in helping to open recently. Conor will be missed dearly by his family and all who knew him well.
