Adornetto, Joan passed away peacefully on Friday, April 30, 2021 in her home. Joan Adornetto was born to the late Eva and Richard Daddow in Rockaway, NJ. She lived in Riverdale, NJ for most of her life, with a brief relocation to West Palm Beach, FL, and was an active member of the Butler United Methodist Church community. Joan married her high school sweetheart, Salvatore "Sam" Adornetto, in 1949. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother to their one child, Sandra, and adored her one grandchild, Samantha. Joan was a creative at heart with a kind and vibrant spirit. A cheerleader in high school nicknamed "Shadow Daddow", her petite frame always found her at the top of the pyramid. After graduation, she worked at various local companies, most notably at Fritz & Cooper as their Office Manager; everyone loved being greeted by her smiling face. She loved spending her free time making watercolor landscapes and enjoying summers with her family in Wildwood, NJ. Joan never slowed down as the years progressed. She loved to travel with Sam and led the organization of trips for the Riverdale Senior Club. She also volunteered at Butler United Methodist Church, and worked on the Morris County Election Board. Joan is survived by her husband, Salvatore "Sam" Adornetto; her daughter Sandra Struble; and her granddaughter Samantha O'Neil. She is preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Furstman and her parents. She will be missed by her son-in-law Keith Struble; her grandson-in-law, Robert O'Neil; her niece Diane Alicea; sister-in-law, Dorothy Adornetto and her many other nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 2-6 PM Monday, May 3, 2021 at Richards Funeral Home, 4 Newqrk Pompton Turnpike, Riverdale. A private funeral service will be held 10 AM Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at the funeral home with a burial to follow in Mountrest Cemetery, Butler. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Butler Methodist Church.
Bastable, Gary S., 68, of Hewitt, passed away after a brave fight with a long illness on April 28th, 2021. He was born in Warwick, New York to Doris and Charles Bastable. Gary had a full and wonderful life with his wife Jean and his two daughters Kristen, Nutt, Kellyn Burger and three grandchildren of San Antonio Texas. Gary also leaves behind a sister, Janice Hubert from Warwick, New York. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 2PM-5PM at Richards Funeral Home 1440 Union Valley Road, West Milford, New Jersey Disposition will be private.
Cedrone, David R., 68, of West Milford, entered eternal life on April 23, 2021 after a long struggle with early-onset Parkinson’s disease and more recently ALS. He was surrounded by the love of his family and with his devoted wife Patricia by his side. David, son of Daniel and Emma Cedrone, was born and raised in Paterson, NJ. He attended School 25 in Paterson and Pope Pius XII High School in Passaic. David went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration at Seton Hall University where he met his wife, Patricia. They married in 1975 and lived briefly in Wayne before moving to West Milford, where they raised their family. David went on to earn his Certified Public Accountant’s license and his Master’s Degree in Taxation at Fairleigh Dickinson University. David experienced a fulfilling career as a CPA, beginning as the Budget Director for Passaic County. He went on to become a staff member of Indirect Cost Consultants. David experienced the merger of several major chemical companies working first with American Cyanamid, then American Home Products and finally retiring from BASF Corp. He also had a small private accounting practice through which his many clients became devoted friends. David was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Accountants, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, and was a Chartered Global Management Accountant. He also devoted years of service to the Boy Scouts of America, starting when he and Patricia founded Pack 159 in Hewitt. A proud Scouter and father, his three sons all became Eagle Scouts, and his daughter earned her Gold Award. David’s faith led him to be of service to the Parish of Our Lady Queen of Peace for over 40 years, first as Lector, Finance Chairman, and Trustee, and then culminating with his ordination as Deacon of the Paterson Diocese. A sports enthusiast, Dave rooted for the Yankees, Rangers, SHU Pirates and the numerous teams his sons played for; as well as dancing the role of a father in the King Centre’s production for the Nutcracker. He found relaxation and enjoyment in railroading throughout the Northeast, crabbing and sailing on Barnegat Bay, and touring NJ lighthouses. He relished the subs at Jersey Mike’s, milkshakes at Hoffman’s and riding the beach train in Point Pleasant. He was a star at skee ball and treasured the Carousel on the Seaside Boardwalk. But, his greatest love was gathering his children and grandchildren around the dinner table at his vacation home in Lavallette. David is survived by his wife of 45 years Patricia (nee Fitzsimmons); three sons, David of Parsippany, Michael and his beloved wife Cassandra of Hillsborough, and Timothy and his beloved wife Kerry of Greenwich; and one daughter, Patricia and her dear husband Ricky Jewell of Bloomingdale. Dave also had 5 grandchildren: Emma, Ricky, and soon-to-be-born Elizabeth Jewell, and Logan and Patrick Cedrone. Also surviving are Dave’s brother Thomas of Chatham Township, numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Dave fought the good fight, finished the race and held tight to his faith. Cooper, James Garrison, 90, of Wantage, NJ died April 25 in Newton, NJ after a long illness. Jim was born in Oradell NJ to Violet E. (née Davis) and Norman Cross Cooper. He was raised in Montvale, NJ and graduated from Park Ridge High School in 1948. He married BettyAnn Weaver in, 1952. Jim served his country proudly as a Marine during the Korean War. He worked as a Lithographer until his retirement in 1993 moving to Wantage, NJ in 1999. He and BettyAnn raised their four children in West Milford. He was an avid outdoorsman. He spent many a day hunting and fishing and enjoying the beauty of hiking the trails in the area with his buddy Gil. They always enjoyed a nice cold beer after a long day out. He was a member of the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association. As a talented woodworker he built many canoes for his enjoyment exploring local waterways with his creations. Jim loved his pets and cared for them lovingly. He is survived by his wife BettyAnn of 68 years. Daughters, Carol Waldron and husband Rip of Hewitt NJ, Susan Cooper and her partner Kevin Mahla of Highland Lakes, NJ, Lynn Cooper Manzi and her husband Vito of Morganville, NJ. Grandchildren James Waldron and his partner Allison Gee of Hawthorne, NJ, Lauren Waldron and her husband Timothy Murphy of Philadelphia, PA, Andrew Waldron and his wife Janaina of Lake Hiawatha, NJ, Alexa Waldron of Morristown, NJ, Jet Manzi of Morganville, NJ and Sofia Manzi of Morganville, NJ. Great grandchildren, Chloe Murphy, Ella Murphy and Olivia Waldron. His sister-in-law Carol Weaver and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son James G. Drew, Steven C. of Hewitt, N.J. passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was 64. Steve was raised in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from the University of Chicago with a BS in Economics and Mathematics and received a Master’s in Technology, Finance and Accounting from Carnegie Mellon University. He and his wife Heather (nee Noble) were married in 1986. They lived 26 years in Atlanta, Georgia, where they raised their three children, Miles, Devon, and Logan. They moved to Hewitt in 2012. Steve was the President of Autosig Systems, a computer software company. He will be especially remembered, however, as an involved dad and lifelong learner. He was especially devoted and dedicated to the Gwinnett County (GA) Swim League and the West Milford Board of Education and Economic Development Council. He gave so much of his time, energy and knowledge to these passions, and the communities benefitted tremendously from his kindness, wit, and leadership. Steve was predeceased by his parents, Kathleen K Drew of Portland, Oregon and Edward C Drew of Tacoma, Washington. He is survived by his wife of nearly 35 years, Heather Drew of Hewitt, NJ, and his three beloved children and their spouses, Miles and Tori Drew of Austin, Texas, Devon and Dan Mahoney of San Diego, California, and Logan Drew and his fiancée Ivana Ramljak of Charlotte, North Carolina. He also has a beautiful granddaughter, Riley. An informal, casual celebration of Steve’s life will be held at the Drew home in Hewitt on Saturday, April 24th from 12p – 2 PM.
Hoebert, Adriana E. (DeJong), 92, passed away on April 5, 2021. Born in The Hague, The Netherlands to the late Johannes DeJong and Louisa (Harders) DeJong. In 1953, Adriana and her family traveled to the United States and settled in Ridgewood, NJ. The family later moved to Pompton Lakes, NJ where they raised their children. Adriana was an animal lover. She loved the shore, swimming and being outdoors, although autumn was her favorite season. Most of all, her family meant the world to her.Adriana is predeceased by her brother Louis DeJong. She leaves behind her husband Jacobus of 70 years. Also surviving, one daughter, Yolanda Klein of Pompton Lakes, one son Glen Hoebert and his wife JoAnn of Riverdale. Her cherished granddaughters, Anna Pskowski, and husband Matthew, and Carli Hoebert, and her Fiancé, Ryan Buniewski. Also surviving, two great-grandchildren Olivia Grace and Luke William and one sister Bette DeJong. A visitation will be held on Friday April 9, 2021 from 2PM-4PM at Richards Funeral Home, 4 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Riverdale, NJ 07457. Service will begin at 3:30. Disposition will be private.
Louzan, Patricia A., 79, of Pompton Lakes, passed away at home on April 29, 2021. Born in Astoria, NY to the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Novak) Bellavia. She is predeceased by her husband Frank. Survivors include one son, Frank Louzan of Pompton Lakes, two daughters, Elizabeth Louzan of Pompton Lakes and Amy Rodriguez of Riverdale. Also surviving are four brothers, five sisters, and 6 grandchildren. McLaren, Dorothy Jean "Dot" (Wilson) of Haskell, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at home. Born in Paterson, NJ to William and Jean (Sweeting) Wilson. She married the love of her life, John David McLaren in 1963. He preceded her in death on May 9, 2001. Destined to be together, they were born on the same day, in the same hospital only hours apart. Dot is survived by her son, Scott (Sue) McLaren of Haskell, her grandchildren Amanda (Garrett) Visser of Riverdale, Stephanie (Jarrell) Murphy of Wanaque, Sarah (Devin) Sigafoose of Wanaque and James of Haskell. As well as five great grandchildren, Frannie, Samantha, Michael, Brantley and Cameron. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret McLaren-Keezer of Benton, PA and several nieces and nephews. Dot was a lifetime member of Clan McLaren. She was an Emergency Medical Technician and served as a member of the Wanaque First Aid Squad alongside her husband and son for many years. She thoroughly enjoyed her time as a leader of Boy Scouts of American Troop 75. She worked for the American Candle Factory and GAF Roofing Manufacturer. In 2000, after retirement, her and her beloved David lived out their dream of moving to Lincolnville, Maine. During her time there, she was a member of the Women's Club, the Lincolnville Improvement Association and Bayshore Baptist Church. In 2016 she relocated back home to Haskell, NJ to be close to family. A Celebration of Life for Dot will be on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Richards Funeral Home, 4 Newark Pompton Turnpike in Riverdale, NJ. Viewing will be from 4 to 7:30 PM with services beginning at 7:30 PM.
Plunkett, Gerald “Jerry” Richard, age 90, passed away April 13, 2021 in Pequannock, New Jersey. Jerry was born in Garfield, New Jersey. He attended Pope Pius XII High School in Passaic, New Jersey. He graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1956 with a degree in Business Management. He served in the Army from 1951-1954, earning the Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a very active member of the Garfield J.C.’s, the VFW, the American Legion Post No. 289 in West Milford, The American Legion Jersey Boys State, The Boys Scouts, The West Milford Veteran’s Council and the Military Order of the Cooties Pup Tent #28. He was a parishioner at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hewitt, New Jersey.Preceded in death by his parents Richard and Mary (Meny) Plunkett, his brother, Raymond Arthur Plunkett and his wife, Ann Patricia (Lynch) Plunkett. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Berta Plunkett, sister-in-law, Virginia Richards, brother-in law, Walter Richards, 1st cousins, Frances (Meny) Bindewald, Emil Meny, Warren Meny and Joan (Plunkett) Blake and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Ricca, Joseph S., 64. A loving family is devastated by the loss of husband and father Joseph S. Ricca of West Milford, NJ, who died on April 26, 2021, after a coronary arrest related to COVID. Joe leaves behind Eileen McMorrow-Ricca, his wife of 28 years, and their dear children, Joseph and Meghan, who is soon to graduate from Montclair State University. A lifelong Yankees and Raiders fan who enjoyed a refreshing cocktail and a good cigar, Joe was always happiest with his family: on the deck, at the shore or dinner out in pre-pandemic days. Joe was born in Newark, NJ. He worked for 27 years as a quality engineer at Kearfott Corp., where he met Eileen. They blended Italian and Irish beautifully; two blue-eyed kids with an appreciation for Italian cooking. Joe is also survived by his brother Frank (Janice) and sister Josephine. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph T. and Mary G. Ricca. Visitation for Joe is planned for 3 to 7 PM Thursday, April 29, and funeral Mass is at 10 AM Friday April 30. Summers, Scott David, 64, of Pompton Lakes, passed away suddenly on April 18th. He was born in Pompton Plains, New Jersey to Ruth and Stuart Summers. He was raised in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey and was a 1974 graduate of Ramapo High School. Scott also attended Nasson College in Springvale, Maine, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in business. He was employed for 26 years by New Jersey City University in Jersey City as a database administrator. Scott loved his swimming pool and watching TV and movies, but most of all, he loved his family, who frequently came over for swimming, barbecues, and good company. Scott is predeceased by his parents; and his brother, Stuart “Bud” (2015). He is survived by his brother Kenneth, niece Victoria, and nephew Kenneth, of Oakland, New Jersey, as well as his sister-in-law Janet and niece Nicole, of Patterson, New York. Family will receive friends at Richards Funeral Home in Riverdale from 3-7 on Friday, April 23rd. The last half hour will be reserved for family and friends to share their memories of Scott. Disposition will be private.
