Kropinack, Elaine Marie. It is with deep sadness that we share the loss of Elaine Marie Kropinack of Manahawkin, NJ, who died unexpectedly on October 29, 2023. Elaine embodied love in who she was and all she did. Her gentle, soft-spoken ways easily pulled all who knew her into a warm hug. The kind you don’t want to end. Elaine was born on November 10, 1949, and raised with her older siblings, Margaret Koharian and Richard Bunsfield in Hackensack, NJ. Her parents, Francis and Evelyn Bunsfield, instilled in her the idea of opening your heart and home to those in need. A theme that continued in Elaine throughout her life. As a young girl, after having her tonsils removed, Elaine felt a calling to become a nurse. This was the perfect vocation for her. Whether it was a new mother and baby in Labor & Delivery or an aging senior in long-term care, she practiced nursing with patience, tenderness and, occasionally, a dose of tough love. Elaine was a selfless, quietly courageous and strong individual who shared these gifts, and many others, with her four children: Michael Kropinack (Amy Kropinack), Brian Kropinack (Melissa Kropinack), Laura Mentler (Philippe Mentler) and Allyson Paravate (Jason Paravate). Always putting them first and protecting them fiercely. Always practical and prepared, she was a “bonus mom” to many of her children’s friends, and eventually their spouses. Always having a spare snack, a safety pin or life lesson on hand. Elaine found happiness in being with her dog Snoopy, sewing, crocheting, baking, reading, playing games on her tablet, tending her plants, and traveling with her family. Her greatest joy, however, came from seeing her children and grandchildren grow into amazing, kind humans themselves. Kevin Kropinack, Morgan Damato, Dorian Kropinack, Sebastian Mentler, Sarah Kropinack, Audrey Mentler, Juliana Kropinack, Shelby Kropinack, Richard Paravate, Elizabeth Mentler, Victoria Kropinack, and Elliana Paravate made her smile with pride every day. Elaine created a legacy of living your life with kindness, love and respect. She will be missed terribly. Visitation will be at Richards Funeral Home in West Milford, NJ, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Friday, November 3, 2023. A Catholic mass will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 10 am at Holy Trinity Church, 34 Maple Ave, Hackensack, NJ. In lieu of flowers please send donations to United Way of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Please meet at church.
