Brown, June T., 98, passed away September 30, 2023. Born in the Bronx, NY to the late Patrick and Catherine Brown she was an executive secretary for American Cyanamid, Wayne retiring in 1996. June was a resident of Bloomingdale for the past fifty eight years and was a parishioner of St. Anthony's Church, Butler. She was a board member of the Bloomingdale Library, also enjoyed sewing and was generous with donating to various charities. Beloved Aunt of Robert, Patrick, Harry, Kevin, James and Teri. Also survived by her sister in law Julie Brown. Predeceased by two brothers Joseph and William Brown. A memorial mass will be held Saturday October 14, 2023, 10 AM at St. Anthony's Church, Butler. Committal to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
Dwan, Michael James January 19, 1972 – September 25, 2023 Michael, known by his childhood friends as Bresh, was born in Pequannock, NJ and lived there in his toddler years. He grew up in Butler, where he resided until 1996 when he moved to Maine with his partner, Vanessa DeGroat. They lived in Maine (Poland Spring) for almost 20 years where he worked primarily in the Air Compressor industry as a tech and then an Inside Sales person. They moved back to Pennsylvania to be closer to family. Mike and Vanessa have 1 son, Garrett with whom they both love very much. His mother Barbara Sherr currently resides with Vanessa & Garrett and he has one brother Patrick Dwan and a Nephew Shawn Dwan whose mother is Jennifer Dacunto, Hannah, Dwan. Mike had an outgoing personality, was very quick witted and would do anything for anyone no matter what hour of the day it was. He liked to ride four wheelers, hunt and fish and go on many adventures with Vanessa & sometimes Garrett to look for moose up North. He enjoyed adventuring up until his final hours. They were never home. He was pre deceased by his father Walter Dwan Jr, his stepdad Myron (Mike) Sherr, his paternal grandparents Walter & Rita Dwan as well as his maternal grandparents Norma & Herbert Zwerdling.He will be missed by many. A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday October 21stin Erskine Lakes (Ringwood, NJ) at the Hilltop Clubhouse at 1:00pm. Elston, Jane R., 61, passed away September 30, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Paterson, NJ to the late Floyd L. Elston and Marie (Hardy) Elston. She was a lifelong resident of Haskell. Beloved wife of Juan Carlos Sierra, who she shared a beautiful life with for the past 40 years. Loving mother of Kimberlee Sierra and her husband Adam Taub of Haskell, grandson Brycen Taub, Timothy Elston, and Richard Paddock jr. (Tori) of Haskell. Many neices, nephews, cousins, aunts, sisters & brothers. She will always be remembered for her beautiful loving heart and one in a million smile. Eriksen, Diane (Wood), passed away on September 25, 2023, at the age of 78. Diane was born in West Milford, NJ, to Mildred and George Wood. She was raised in West Milford, NJ, and lived in the house she was born in all her life. She graduated from West Milford High School, she attended The State Teachers College now known at “William Paterson University” and received her master’s degree from Mary Grove College in Michigan. Diane was a beloved math teacher at West Milford High School for 32 years. She was active in the West Milford Lion’s Club and was a lifelong member of The West Milford Presbyterian Church. She was a Sunday School teacher, and was also active in the Women’s Association spearheading the revival of the Christmas Bazaar. Diane was always willing to help anyone that needed it. She will be missed by so many. She was a passionate and wonderful quilter and seamstress, always available to give a lesson or help with any questions. Diane was well-known for painting and especially for her beautiful mailboxes which were auctioned off at the annual Church Auction. She loved the yard at her house and took pride in her beautiful flowers. Diane loved all her little critters that would visit her in the back yard. She loved her tractor and after many rehabs for her back, they let her drive the tractor again. The smile on her face was worth a million dollars. But that ended soon. She was an amazing woman, Aunt, Great Aunt and a Great Great Aunt, and friend. Diane is survived by her loving sister Sandy Zimmer, 5 nieces and nephews Michelle, Walter, Michael, Rory and Randy, Great Nieces and Nephews Danielle, Christopher, Amy, Brittnay, Walter, Cole, Christel, Lauren and Shayne, Leeah, Miiah, Destiny, Cody, Brady, Chelsea, Cayden , Jacob, Zoey, Zannah, Joseph, Alayna, Wylon, Tilian and Everleigh. A viewing will be held at Richard’s Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-7 pm and a Memorial/Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023, 10:00 am, at the West Milford Presbyterian Church, 1452 Union Valley Rd., West Milford NJ 07480. Lockwood, Horace, 99, passed away September 1, 2023 five days from his 100th birthday. Born in Pompton Lakes to the late Valentine and Sophie Lockwood, he owned Lockwood Brothers Realty along with his brother Alfred. Beloved husband of Evelyn (Rindik). Father of Jeffrey, Daria Carbone and Kristen Gallo, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren along with his three step daughters Debra Morris, Valerie Quigley and Erica Hampson. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 9, 1 pm at Pompton Reformed Church, Pompton Lakes.
Mazur, Judith (Judy) (Gunther), passed away on September 8, 2023, at the age of 83. Judy was born in Teaneck, NJ, to August and Elizabeth Gunther. She was raised in Bergenfield, NJ, where she graduated from Bergenfield High School, and met her future husband, Joseph Mazur. Judy married Joseph Mazur on August 31, 1957. They had just celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary. Judy and Joe raised their 3 children in Bergenfield. Several years after retiring as project manager from Equifax/Elrich & Lavidge, in 2006, Judy and Joe moved to West Milford, where she made wonderful friends and acquaintances, especially through the Newcomers and Wawayanda Walkers Clubs and West Milford Presbyterian Church. Judy loved and enjoyed the friends she made and the surrounding beauty and peace of West Milford and the wildlife it offered. She was an avid gardener and birdwatcher who also loved kayaking, and taking walks and hikes with her husband, family, and friends. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family and friends. She was an amazing wife, mom, grandma, great grandma and friend. Judy is survived by her beloved husband Joseph Mazur, her daughter Laura Milo (husband Frank Milo), her son Michael Mazur (wife Regina Mazur), son Jeffrey Mazur (wife Christine Mazur), grandchildren Cara, Tessa, Michael, Dylan and Aidan, great grandchildren Francesca, Jackson and DJ, and niece Marni Baum & family. She is predeceased by her only sibling, sister Joan Gunther Pierson. A Memorial/Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, 11:00 am, at the West Milford Presbyterian Church, 1452 Union Valley Rd., West Milford NJ 07480.
Morris, Charles G. Jr, passed away on September 28th, 2023 surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 78. He was born in Paterson, NJ to Mary (Litter) & Charles G. Morris Sr. During his younger years, he grew up in Little Falls, NJ but lived almost his entire life in West Milford on Greenwood Lake in the same home, he helped his parents build, for close to 70 years. He was part the first graduating Class of West Milford High School 1963, he attended Butler HS for the earlier years, where he enjoyed playing football. Charlie continued to play for the WMHS Alumni football league. He proudly served in the US Army during the war in Vietnam. Many knew him from working at his family’s restaurant Pizza Boy/Aiello’s, often seen in that big front window tossing pizzas. He proudly received his college degree from Upsala College and went on to become a Computer Systems Analyst. He started out with NCR and then finished with a career at Elizabeth BOE. Also, he moonlighted at the WM Townhall and the surrounding town municipalities, taking care of the computer systems. Through the years he frequented the old Carl’s Diner with friends, family or just alone, his nickname there was “briefcase Charlie”. His greatest joys in life were his family and friends, he loved when everyone was together, more the merrier. He enjoyed boating, watching the Yankees, reminiscing about the old times and a taking us out for a steak dinner or grilling at home. For years Charlie took the entire family and his SeaRay boat up to Lake George, NY for an annual August vacation, renting a big house and all were welcome to join us. The same went for his home on Greenwood Lake, the door was always open. Often Cousin Brucie/101.1 CBS FM would be playing on the radio 24/7 while he was working or playing around the house. He always had music playing and was humming, especially to Doo-Wop, Elvis & Sinatra. He was an amazing gentleman, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and co-worker. He could fix and do most everything. He was the touchstone of our family. Charlie is survived by his big, loving family and sorely missed. His 3 children, twin sons: Charles G. Morris III (Heather) Bangor, PA; Donald Morris (Christina) Suwannee, GA and daughter: Danielle Sweezy (Richard) Pequannock, NJ. His 10 grandchildren Caitlyn Swanson (Jason); Melissa Morris (Michael); Courtney Fenstermaker (Brian); Meghan Thompson (Jim); Trevor Morris; Caroline Morris (Owen); Shaina Sweezy; Brianna Morris; Jacob Morris and Marisa Sweezy and 4 great-grandchildren Wyatt, Zoey, Finn Swanson & Jessica Morris. His friend/ex-wife, Barbara Nicodemus. Also, his siblings Eileen Benkis (deceased 08/2023), Marianne Aiello & Carolyn Pellegrino and many dear nieces, nephews, neighbors and dear friends. He loved all of his grand-dogs, especially his furry companion Bear, who brought him great comfort in the end. A viewing will be held at Richards Funeral Home, 1440 Union Valley Road, West Milford, NJ 07480 on Thursday October 12, 2023 from 4-7 pm with a funeral mass on Friday at 10:00 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, West Parkway, Pompton Plains, NJ. A graveside Funeral and Honor Guard Detail will take place Friday October 13, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, off Totowa Road in the Chapel section, Totowa, NJ.
